Guadalupe’s main goal is to heal the broken and often hardened hearts of the children.
Due to a variety of circumstances, they all must deal with the harsh reality of being abandoned by their families.
Many have also been abused and/or neglected prior to their arrival.
Guadalupe and Miguel do their best to acclimate the children to life in the orphanage by giving them a sense of
family and security. Their hope is that none of the orphans will repeat their parent’s mistakes by abandoning
their own children in the future.
The couple’s most challenging goal is keeping the children from going hungry.
The orphanage relies on the sporadic donations of organizations, churches and generous individuals.
It’s feast or famine at El Faro - unfortunately, most often it’s famine.
